Mexico City Street View Typography

Missing the time I spent in Mexico City, I took a street view tour of a few of the old neighborhoods like Tepito and Garibaldi, and found a lot of great sign painting, graffiti, and advertising. Screen Shots and Google Street View. Note the 2 photos from different angles of the same wall, one with the outlines done, and the next with the whole wall complete.

sign painting mexico city

Traveling in mexico in march 2010, I was on a bus out of town. Saw these dudes out the window, they work together, one is an outliner, one is a filler, one does the inlines, and then there was another guy who puts the details and such in at the end. This is an illegal advertising style that is very popular in latin america. They white wash big ass walls on main streets and freeways, and rock these big ass ads, usually doing four or five adds in a row, mostly for upcoming music events. This scene is really rad, I will upload a few examples of finished work soon. Yet another reason to move to Mexico. Photographs by Kel Troughton.
